Squarespace Pricing: Billing Terms, Selling Fees and Renewal Checks

Public pricing checked October 5, 2026: this guide separates observed subscription listings, calculated annual totals and provider-published selling fees. HRL interprets the pricing page’s plain dollar symbol as USD using Squarespace’s currency notation guide. This is a public reference, not a verified account-specific checkout or renewal quote. Confirm your selected currency and full invoice before purchase.

Illustrated guide: Squarespace Pricing: Billing Terms, Selling Fees and Renewal Checks

Which Squarespace plan are you buying?

Squarespace’s plan-selection documentation discusses Basic, Core, Plus, and Advanced, alongside legacy plans. It directs buyers to the options actually shown on their pricing and selection screens. Record the exact plan name and feature list; a legacy plan and a new plan with similar positioning may have different fees.

Begin with the required workflow. A service site, physical-product store, and paid course have different operating needs. Write down which feature requires an upgrade before deciding that a higher tier is worth its price.

Monthly billing versus an annual monthly equivalent

Observed in the live public pricing selector on October 5, 2026. Both billing selections were checked. Dollar amounts are USD reference figures interpreted from the provider’s currency notation; a checkout was not completed. Annual subtotals below are HRL arithmetic before taxes and extras. These rates do not establish future renewal prices.

Public USD reference rates; annual subtotals are calculated, not checkout quotes
PlanAnnual selection, monthly equivalentEstimated annual subscription subtotalMonthly selection
Basic$19$228$25
Core$29$348$39
Plus$49$588$65
Advanced$99$1,188$139

The official pricing page offers monthly and annual choices. Copy the full invoice for the selected term and billing country. An annual monthly equivalent multiplied by twelve estimates the subscription subtotal; it is not evidence that the same rate is offered month to month.

Use a separate line for the next renewal invoice. A first-term promotion should not silently become the assumed renewal price in a long-term comparison. The next renewal invoice and your selected checkout amount are not established by the public starting rates.

Currency and taxes affect the final bill

Squarespace’s subscription-currency guide says the first-payment location determines available currency choices. Select the currency beside “Select a plan” at checkout, before the first payment; changing it later is restricted. Your store’s customer-payment currency is a separate setting.

The billing-tax guide says pricing-page rates exclude tax. Your billing address determines applicable subscription taxes; check the full charge and tax breakdown before payment.

When does Squarespace renew?

Its renewal guide, checked October 5, 2026, says website subscriptions renew annually or monthly. Annual reminders generally arrive 15 days before renewal; monthly subscriptions renew without an email reminder. SEPA reminders follow different timing. Price-change notices apply at the next scheduled renewal. Check the website payment due date under Billing → Subscriptions, and inspect domain and email renewal dates separately.

Commerce fees and processing fees are different

Provider-published fees checked October 5, 2026; applies to the named plan family
PlanCommerce platform feeCourses, video pages and member-site feeUS Squarespace Payments standard cards

Core0%5%2.9% + $0.30
Plus0%1%2.7% + $0.30
Advanced0%0%2.5% + $0.30

Processing charges are additional to applicable platform fees. Premium cards, international cards, currency conversion and other payment methods have separate rates. Download products belong to the commerce schedule; courses and member sites use the digital-products schedule. Legacy plans use different fees. Plan availability varies by country.

Squarespace’s fee schedule separates its platform fees from payment processing. Charges depend on the plan, product type, business country, and payment method. A plan without a commerce transaction fee can still have a payment-processing charge.

Use three budget lines: the subscription; any platform charge for the relevant sales; and processor charges. Check digital-content and membership fees independently from physical-product sales. Do not apply a domestic-card rate to every international or alternative payment method.

When does paying for a higher plan make financial sense?

Divide the extra subscription cost by the reduction in the applicable percentage fee, using decimal percentages. That gives a simple sales break-even point, before other differences. For a hypothetical upgrade costing $120 more per year that removes a 2% platform fee, $120 ÷ 0.02 = $6,000 of eligible annual sales.

That is an arithmetic example, not a Squarespace plan quote. Only compare fees that apply to the same products and payment scenario. If the upgrade also changes processing charges or replaces another paid service, calculate those effects separately.

Domain renewal and email after an offer

The pricing-page domain terms describe one free year for eligible annual website subscriptions, followed by standard renewal charges and applicable tax. Record the extension and next renewal amount separately from the website bill.

Squarespace’s Google Workspace offer is limited to one eligible new user for the first year on qualifying plans, then renews at the standard rate. Additional users are charged separately. Eligibility depends on the website, domain, and signup conditions; verify the offer in the order summary. The later mailbox price is not established by the first-year offer.

Three-year and five-year total cost

Add all website invoices required inside the horizon, domain renewals, mailbox bills, extensions or services, and sales-dependent fees. Keep optional services separate so another buyer can reproduce the calculation with their own needs.

If the first payment is discounted, use a separate renewal input. If a payment covers service outside the horizon, show cash paid alongside allocated service cost. Exact Squarespace three- and five-year totals remain unknown until the subscription and renewal inputs are verified.

What happens if you leave?

Squarespace’s content export is partial. Preserve media and business records separately and budget for rebuilding the replacement design and functions. Our Wix vs. Squarespace comparison explains the documented boundaries; the builder export guide gives an inventory and migration checklist.

Calculate the fee difference for your actual products

A higher Squarespace plan can save money only on fees it actually changes. Use the relevant product category’s confirmed fee difference and expected eligible sales; compare that saving with the additional subscription charge over the same period. Payment processing and fees that remain unchanged stay in both budgets. Keep separate calculations for physical products and paid content if their terms differ.

Before buying: confirm currency and the full invoice

Confirm a dated US/USD plan quote, available billing terms, renewal amount, domain renewal and later email price. Match the fee schedule to the actual selling workflow. The primary documentation was checked October 5, 2026. This guide draws on public documentation and observed pricing selections; HRL has not performed checkout, migration, support, or performance tests.
