Check the full price of the plan you shortlisted
Use the provider cards to narrow your options, then check the detailed pricing record for the exact plan and billing term. A low starting payment, a low renewal rate and a small next invoice answer different questions.

Is cheap hosting a free trial if it has a money-back guarantee?
A guarantee usually requires you to fund the initial purchase and then request an eligible refund. That can mean a large prepaid invoice for a small advertised monthly equivalent. Compare the required payment, refund exclusions and the service you need before committing. Our refund guide explains the conditions, and our billing comparison helps assess the commitment.

“Cheap” should describe the full decision, not just the first month
Low-cost hosting is often sold as a monthly equivalent for a prepaid year or several years. If the cart requires 48 months, multiply the advertised rate by 48 before calling it a cheap purchase. Also calculate a comparable 12-month or 24-month scenario using the actual offer and renewal terms. A domain registration, mailbox, backup upgrade or security add-on may be billed on a different cycle from the hosting.
Three offers, different terms and plan levels
Hostinger Premium currently displays $2.49 per month on a 48-month purchase ($119.52 base hosting upfront), followed by a posted $10.99 monthly-equivalent renewal. DreamHost Launch’s one-year offer is $2.89 per month ($34.68 upfront), with a listed $10.99 monthly-equivalent renewal after one year. Its four-year Growth offer is $3.49 per month ($167.52 upfront), with an $8.99 monthly-equivalent renewal after four years. These are different plans and purchase terms; compare the amount due now and renewal timing, not headline monthly equivalents alone. Match like with like: do not compare Hostinger’s four-year monthly equivalent with DreamHost’s one-year rate without showing cash due and renewal timing.
What the entry plan leaves out
Hostinger Premium currently lists weekly backups and two mailboxes per website free for one year. DreamHost Launch lists daily backups and 20 mailboxes free for three months. SiteGround StartUp posts a low first-year rate, but its current twelve-month renewal is substantially higher than its promotion. Bluehost Starter’s least expensive displayed deal similarly requires a 36-month term. Check the listed site and storage allowances, restore access and continuing email charges for the exact plan before comparing.
Cheap web hosting that stays cheap after renewal: what the numbers show
Our named-plan snapshots separate the first payment from the later rate. Hostinger Premium’s 48-month term costs $119.52 before tax and extras, then the listed renewal equivalent is $10.99 a month. DreamHost Web Hosting Launch on a 12-month term costs $34.68 initially and lists $10.99 a month at annual renewal. SiteGround StartUp on a 12-month term costs $35.88 initially and lists $17.99 a month at renewal. These are different initial commitments, so a lower first invoice is not the same as a lower five-year bill.
Use the renewal calculator to estimate hosting charges over one, three and five years from those named plan and term snapshots. It counts the full prepaid first term, even when it extends past the horizon. The totals exclude unknown domain and mailbox charges, paid backup upgrades, taxes and regional offer differences. A plan whose introductory price increases at renewal does not literally stay at that promotional rate. Check a comparable plan with the same capacity, support and billing commitment before deciding whether its ongoing price is affordable for you.
A sensible low-cost decision
If you may change provider soon, prefer a shorter commitment even if the monthly equivalent is higher; keeping the initial cash outlay low can be valuable. If you are confident you will stay for years, compare the entire four-year first charge and the next term. Use the renewal calculator, then read lowest renewal cost and “unlimited” hosting limits before paying. Eligible nonprofit organizations can also compare free and discounted hosting offers.
