BUYER-SPECIFIC RESEARCH

Check your builder's exit path before signing up

Ask what you can export, which subscription enables it and which functions need replacement elsewhere. Confirm whether the output is content for another platform or code that someone must deploy and maintain. Those are different future workloads.

Include possible rebuild and maintenance costs in the decision, alongside the initial hosting bill. Record who owns the domain, mailboxes and external services so a later platform change has a clear starting point.

Compare builder content exports, code exports and backups before moving hosts.

The easiest first host is the one you can recover

Beginner-friendly setup matters, but an onboarding wizard is only the first day. Look for clear account access, a straightforward way to publish or migrate a site, backups you can restore, and support that can explain a failed change. Compare the entry plan rather than assuming every feature shown in a provider’s marketing applies to the cheapest tier.

A first-purchase checklist

  • Know the job: Decide whether you are launching WordPress, a builder site, or a simple static site, and identify any email or store requirement.
  • Check the cash due: Write down the prepaid term, today’s charge, renewal rate and any domain or email bill after the promotion.
  • Plan a recovery: Locate backups and learn how to restore before installing a stack of themes and plugins.
  • Keep access: Save your domain registrar login, hosting login, DNS records and an independent copy of important site files.

Our beginner’s hosting guide explains the basics, while what WordPress hosting actually needs helps if WordPress is your platform. Compare the full cost after renewal before committing to a long introductory term.

BUYING GUIDANCE

How to choose the right option

The easiest first week matters, but so does understanding who owns the domain, where email lives, and what happens when the introductory term ends. Pick a plan you can manage after setup.

HOW WE RANK

Price gets attention. Long-term value earns the ranking.

Intro + renewal costWe look at both the promotional rate and what the plan costs later.
Useful included featuresBackups, SSL, CDN, email, migration, staging, and support matter when comparing real value. We prioritize documented pricing and plan fit; we do not present unsupported benchmark claims.
Best-fit customerA premium host can rank highly without being the right choice for a simple budget site.
Editorial independenceAffiliate compensation does not determine our scores or ranking order.

Prices and plan terms can change. Verify current pricing and terms with the provider before purchasing.
