SiteGround is a candidate for a WordPress site whose owner wants integrated hosting tools and is comfortable with the later bill. Compare the exact tier's release, backup and access features before deciding whether the package earns its renewal cost.
Review scope: this assessment covers WordPress websites managed through Site Tools. SiteGround Website Builder has a different workflow. Documentation checked October 1, 2026. Who should consider SiteGround?
- Business owners maintaining WordPress: map routine updates, recovery and email tasks to the tools and help you will use.
- Agencies sharing responsibility with a client: evaluate collaborator permissions and which tasks remain with the owner.
- Stores and member sites: check backup frequency, live-data protection and the uncached workload before selecting a tier.

Daily backups are only part of the recovery plan
SiteGround's documentation lists daily backup copies and restore options, with manual creation and other features depending on the plan or Premium Backup service. It identifies five free manual-backup slots on GrowBig and higher plans. Check what you can create, restore and download in your selected account.
Site Tools can restore particular files or databases; its documentation also says there is no backup-version preview before restoration. Before a live change, agree the recovery scope and preserve data that must not be rolled back. A full recovery point is not an automatic way to merge newer customer records.
For a store or appointment business, use our WooCommerce order-recovery guide or booking website checklist. Choose the acceptable missing-data window first, then compare the available backup interval.
Staging: inspect the change before deployment
SiteGround's published tutorial describes Full Deploy as replacing live files and the database. Custom Deploy presents detected file and database-table changes for selection. Its tutorial also lists compatibility and resource conditions, including a WordPress Multisite limitation. Confirm these conditions for your setup before relying on the tool.
A selection interface does not remove the need to know where orders, memberships and settings are stored. Rehearse a representative release and verify that current production records survive. Our staging guide explains how to define that boundary. The linked staging tutorials carry older publication dates, so account-level confirmation is especially useful.
Cache controls have different scopes
SiteGround documents a per-website Dynamic Cache purge, while the Memcached flush applies to all sites at once. Before clearing or changing anything, identify the layer involved and which other sites the action touches. More cache clearing is not a diagnosis.
For a private dashboard or checkout, verify application behavior with separate users and a public session. Measure the action that is slow and distinguish delivery from the work the application performs.
Investigate WordPress performance before upgrading
Start with the workload that is slow. A public page, a logged-in dashboard and a checkout action need different evidence.
Collaborator access is not ownership
SiteGround says collaborators cannot access the owner's billing or unshared services. For third-party applications such as WordPress, their Site Tools access excludes email management. Plan email-related work with the account owner rather than assuming a contractor invitation gives every required permission.
Also verify WordPress users separately. A handover is complete when the owner can sign in, receive form messages, manage renewals and follow the recovery procedure. Use our website handover checklist.
