Hostinger Website Builder vs. WordPress: Editing, Ownership and Moving

Official documentation checked October 5, 2026. Published references and HRL calculations are distinguished below. No account-specific checkout, export, migration or performance test was completed for this guide.

Choosing Hostinger does not by itself choose the website application. A builder workflow and a self-hosted WordPress installation make different demands on editing, maintenance and any future move. HRL recommends deciding the operating model before selecting a discounted hosting term.

This comparison means WordPress software installed with a host you select, including Hostinger if its chosen plan fits. It does not compare WordPress.com subscription plans. Hostinger’s builder modes also need to be identified separately; a manual-mode site and an agentic project do not share one universal export process.

Illustrated guide: Hostinger Website Builder vs. WordPress: Editing, Ownership and Moving

The table lists evaluation tasks, not hands-on test findings. Build representative content and complete the important customer journey in the candidate setup. An attractive template or generated first page is only one part of acceptance.

Keep pricing tied to the named product

Our Hostinger builder pricing guide separates the public 48-month payment from its monthly equivalent, published renewal references and time-limited offers. Our Hostinger hosting pricing guide addresses the hosting plans. Match the quote to the intended application before comparing totals.

For WordPress, identify who maintains the software and each required extension. For the builder, identify the selected mode and external services. Include implementation, email, domain renewal and ongoing help in both budgets. A provider being the same on both quotes does not make the responsibilities identical.

Manual-mode export preserves selected content

Hostinger’s manual-mode export guide describes moving regular pages, text, images and files to WordPress. It excludes layout and styles, store functions, forms, collected submissions, integrations and SEO settings.

HRL’s planning implication is to treat that move as content transfer plus a replacement build. Map important URLs, preserve form records separately and reproduce the functions customers use. Do not cancel the original service merely because selected pages have appeared on the destination.

Agentic code export has a different destination

The agentic export guide describes a React/Vite project using Node.js tooling. Integrated backend data is excluded, and an edited export cannot be imported back for continued prompting. The guide describes deployment or a build step for static assets.

That output is not a WordPress theme or a complete WordPress backup. Ask the person handling the move to identify the runtime, data migration, authentication and form-processing services. A successful build does not prove those external functions have been replaced.

WordPress portability still has operating requirements

The WordPress backup handbook describes preserving files and the database. The destination also needs a compatible environment; use the official server recommendations alongside your extensions’ requirements.

Moving that application is different from importing selected builder content. It still requires account access, licences, domain and email planning, and an accepted destination workflow. Our website migration guide and staging guide cover the separate checks.

A store needs its own quote and acceptance record

Hostinger’s current Ecommerce documentation describes a standalone subscription and says new Unlimited and Cloud subscriptions no longer include it. Confirm the actual store entitlement and bill instead of assuming “ecommerce available” establishes a bundled purchase.

For a WordPress store, use the WooCommerce budget, hosting checks and launch checklist. Compare the same products, payments and fulfilment requirements before selecting the platform.

Choose the destination before judging an export

Write down whether the future destination is a WordPress site, an independently hosted code project or another hosted builder. Then compare the documented export with that destination’s import and runtime requirements. A file that preserves content may still need design and integration work. Use export versus backup to distinguish a migration asset from a recoverable copy of the current application.

Choose an arrangement the business can operate

HRL would shortlist the builder when its selected workflow supplies the required website and the business accepts its documented boundaries. We would shortlist self-hosted WordPress when independent application and hosting choices are requirements and there is a clear maintenance owner.

Approve the choice using demonstrated workflows, a complete payment schedule, ownership and exit requirements. Keep those records in the business handover checklist, and use export versus backup to define what must be preserved.
