What you get
Wix pricing at a glance
Review basis: Documentation-based review of Wix’s public website plans and hosting information, checked October 17, 2026. HRL has not built a production site on Wix or tested editor performance, support, SEO tools, or ecommerce checkout.
Hosting Review Lab editorial rating: 4.1/5. This score averages published feature fit, pricing and term transparency, and disclosed support and buyer-protection policies. It excludes performance and customer reputation because HRL has not conducted controlled performance tests or collected a verified customer-feedback dataset for this provider.
Wix at a glance
Wix combines a visual website builder, hosting, templates, AI creation tools, and business features in one hosted platform. Customers can start with a free site, then upgrade to a paid subscription to connect a custom domain and remove platform limitations. Paid plans differ by storage, collaborators, marketing features, and ecommerce capability.
Wix pricing: prices vary by region
Wix’s official pricing page offers a $0 Free plan and says prices and currency vary by location. It displays annual subscriptions paid in full at purchase; the region-selected page can show a local tax-inclusive price. Because the public page resolves to different currencies and tax treatments, HRL is not using the page’s GST-inclusive sample as a U.S. price. Choose the U.S. region and the desired subscription term to see the current Light, Core, Business, or higher-tier amount and the total billed today.
| Plan path | Published price evidence | What the buyer receives |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0; no credit card required | Wix-hosted site with editor and templates |
| Paid website plans | Light plan shown from $17/mo with annual billing; region and currency dependent | Custom-domain connection, more features and hosting |
| Business/ecommerce tiers | Shown in the local pricing selector | Payment acceptance and store functionality on eligible plans |
Wix describes a 14-day money-back guarantee for paid plans. The actual subscription period, renewal amount, taxes, and any app or business add-ons should be confirmed in the checkout. An annual monthly equivalent should not be mistaken for a monthly bill.
Hosting and site-building workflow
Wix hosts the site as part of its platform, so the customer does not manage a separate web server. The editor, templates, hosting, and some business functions are integrated. This is convenient for a site owner who wants a visual workflow and fewer infrastructure decisions. The trade-off is that the site’s structure and editing experience are tied to Wix’s own platform.
Before selecting a paid tier, check storage, collaborator seats, payment functions, domain connection, and any premium app costs. If you plan to leave later, review export options for page content, images, products, and domain records. A platform migration may require reconstructing design and functionality even when text and media can be exported.
Strengths and trade-offs
- Strength: Free starting tier lets a user build and test before paying.
- Strength: Hosting, editor, templates, and AI creation tools are bundled together.
- Strength: Paid plans add custom-domain and commerce capabilities without server administration.
- Trade-off: Pricing varies by region and term; the annual rate is paid up front.
- Trade-off: Platform dependence can make a future redesign or migration more involved than moving a standard WordPress site.
Who should consider Wix?
Wix may suit a freelancer, local business, portfolio, or small online store that values a visual editor and wants hosting handled as part of the subscription. It is less suited to a developer who needs server-level access or a site owner who wants complete control over the CMS and deployment stack. Use the regional pricing selector with the actual needed features before comparing cost with a separate hosting plan.
HRL verdict
Wix’s convenience is its main value: the builder and hosting sit in one account, and a free tier is available for early work. The price comparison must use the local checkout total, term, and required business features. Because Wix localizes its pricing and HRL has not tested a paid account, we do not quote an assumed U.S. rate or assign an experience score.
