MULTI-SITE HOSTING RANKINGS

Best Hosting for Multiple Websites in 2026

If you manage several websites, account limits matter as much as price. These picks balance site allowances, management tools, scalability, and total operating cost.

OUR SHORTLIST

The providers we would consider first

We compare more than the promotional headline price. Rankings account for ongoing cost, target user, included features, and the practical tradeoffs that show up after signup.

More sites share more than a bill: DreamHost, Bluehost and Hostinger sell named web plans with site allowances, while Cloudways lets you deploy multiple applications on a selected server. Storage, compute, traffic, backup cost and administration can become the real limits before the advertised site count. If you are comparing one WordPress Multisite network with several separate WordPress installs, use our Multisite hosting cost-per-site guide to separate the hosting bill from administration and recovery tradeoffs.

MULTI-SITE HOSTING DECISION

What kind of multiple-website hosting do you actually need?

"Multi-site hosting" can mean several independent websites, one WordPress Multisite network, a client portfolio, or several domains pointed at different projects. The best hosting model depends on which of those you mean.

Several independent websitesChoose a plan with enough site slots, storage, backups, and resource headroom. Independent installs keep plugins, themes, users, and recovery points separate.
WordPress MultisiteOne WordPress network can centralize administration, but plugins, themes, database growth, backups, and recovery affect the network differently. Compare the cost per site before assuming Multisite is cheaper.
Agency/client portfolioPrioritize staging, team permissions, billing/ownership, migrations, and client handoff. The cheapest plan per site may create expensive operational work. See agency hosting.
Multi-domain hostingConfirm whether additional domains can point to separate sites, whether each site gets SSL/email/backups, and whether all sites share one resource pool. Domain count alone does not prove workload capacity.

BUYER-SPECIFIC RESEARCH

A website allowance is not WordPress Multisite

A plan may host several separate WordPress installations, while Multisite runs subsites from one installation. Confirm which arrangement the named plan supports and how it counts sites or networks. Separate installations can still share hosting resources and account-level access, so verify the provider’s boundaries rather than assuming each site is fully isolated.

Compare separate WordPress sites with Multisite for a client portfolio.

“Multiple websites” should mean sites you can actually operate

A plan’s website allowance is only one limit. Several WordPress installations can consume more storage, database capacity, backup space and support time than a single site, even when each receives modest traffic. Count the projects you expect to launch during the prepaid term, then check how each provider handles domains, staging, mailboxes and backups per site.

Compare multisite hosting pricing per site

Divide the full prepaid hosting bill by the number of sites you realistically expect to run, not by the provider’s maximum website allowance. Then repeat the calculation with the renewal bill. This keeps a low headline monthly price from looking artificially cheap when you only use a fraction of the available sites.

Also price the shared resources behind those sites. Storage, CPU limits, database capacity, backup retention and support workflow can matter more than the raw website count.

Current example: Hostinger Premium cost per site

Hostinger currently lists Premium at $143.52 prepaid for 48 months, allows up to 3 websites, and renews at $10.99 per month. That works out to $35.88 per year for the plan during the introductory term, then $131.88 per year at renewal. The table divides those plan totals by the number of active sites; it assumes you use the same plan for the full term and excludes tax, domains after the first included year, and paid add-ons.

Active websitesIntro term: cost per site for 48 monthsRenewal: cost per site per year
1$143.52$131.88
2$71.76$65.94
3$47.84$43.96

These figures use the U.S. plan shown on Hostinger’s current web hosting page. See our Hostinger pricing guide for a fuller breakdown of plan costs. Checked October 14, 2026. The advertised website limit does not mean each site receives dedicated resources.

Worked example: multi-site hosting cost per website

For a hypothetical hosting subscription, suppose year one costs $120 prepaid and years two and three each cost $240. The total hosting charge across 36 months is $600, before tax, domains, email and upgrades. This is an arithmetic illustration, not a provider quote.

Active websites36-month totalCost per site across 36 months
1$600$600
3$600$200
5$600$120

Divide the full three-year cost by the number of sites you actually operate, not the maximum advertised site allowance. If heavier traffic forces a plan upgrade, recalculate the bill. Separate WordPress installations and a WordPress Multisite network also have different access and recovery needs; see our comparison of separate websites and Multisite. For real plans, use our provider pricing guides and renewal-cost shortlist. For sites sharing one managed cloud server versus site-count-based WordPress plans, see our Cloudways vs. Kinsta cost-model comparison. Calculation reviewed October 14, 2026.

Test the second site, not just the first

  • Separate access: Check whether collaborators can work on one project without receiving credentials for every site.
  • Independent recovery: Ask whether you can restore one website without rolling back others in the account.
  • Resource sharing: Confirm whether an unusually busy site can affect the remaining sites or trigger an upgrade.
  • Growth costs: Include extra domains, paid mailboxes, backup storage and the renewal invoice when comparing plans.

If you maintain sites for clients, the agency hosting shortlist examines handoff and team workflows. For a smaller collection of sites, use our shared-hosting comparison, freelancer hosting guide, and renewal calculator to judge the named plan and term.

HOW WE RANK

Price gets attention. Long-term value earns the ranking.

Intro + renewal costWe look at both the promotional rate and what the plan costs later.
Useful included featuresBackups, SSL, CDN, email, migration, staging, and support matter when comparing real value. We prioritize documented pricing and plan fit; we do not present unsupported benchmark claims.
Best-fit customerA premium host can rank highly without being the right choice for a simple budget site.
