QUICK VERDICT

What Bluehost really costs

Bluehost currently advertises an entry price of $3.99/mo (recorded offer: 36 months prepaid). The recorded renewal rate is $9.99/mo, so the post-promotion budget matters as much as the launch price.

Our best-fit view: Beginners, WordPress users, and small-business websites.

PLAN-SPECIFIC ANALYSIS

Bluehost Starter: the 36-month price and the renewal invoice

Bluehost advertises Starter at $3.99 per month for a 36-month introductory term. That monthly figure is an equivalent: 36 × $3.99 is $143.64 due for hosting up front, before taxes, a domain beyond its free period, or selected extras. The advertised $9.99 monthly renewal equivalent is also tied to a 36-month renewal. At that unchanged rate, another 36 months would be $359.64 for hosting. These are arithmetic examples based on the published rates, not a checkout quote or a promise that prices will stay fixed.

Starter billing choice Published monthly equivalent Illustrative hosting bill
36-month introductory term $3.99/month $143.64 for 36 months
36-month renewal term $9.99/month $359.64 for 36 months
12-month renewal term $11.99/month $143.88 for 12 months
Monthly renewal term $15.99/month $15.99 for one month

The last two rates come from Bluehost’s published renewal list. The actual cycle offered to your account and its current bill belong in the Bluehost Renewal Center. A shorter renewal can lower the immediate invoice while raising the price per month. Do not multiply $9.99 by 12 and mistake the result for an available 12-month renewal.

What the Starter plan includes

Bluehost currently lists 10 websites, 10 GB NVMe SSD storage, SSL, a CDN, weekly backups, managed WordPress updates, malware scanning, and chat support for Starter. It offers a free domain for the first year on eligible 12- or 36-month hosting purchases. The domain can renew separately afterward. Confirm the eligible extension and later domain renewal charge in your cart.

Watch the email add-on. Bluehost’s pricing page advertises a one-month trial of professional email if you opt in, followed by a listed $2.99/month regular price. Check the add-on selection, billing date, and cancellation settings before assuming email is included for the hosting term.

Refunds and who this deal suits

Bluehost’s 30-day money-back guarantee applies to eligible new hosting purchases, subject to its terms; monthly hosting terms are excluded. Domain registration and other add-ons are excluded, and a free-domain registration fee can be deducted from an eligible hosting refund. Its refund policy says renewals are refundable only within the 15-day prebill window, so review the current terms and renewal date before an automatic charge.

Starter makes the most sense if you can use the long prepaid term and its included features. If keeping the initial bill low or changing hosts soon matters more, compare the one-year and monthly options by total amount paid. Our renewal cost calculator lets you enter the precise promo and renewal terms, the first-year domain offer, and any email trial. BEFORE YOU BUY

Four details to verify at checkout

Before canceling, read our refund and cancellation checklist.

  1. Billing period: Confirm how much is charged today, not only the monthly equivalent.
  2. Renewal date: Note when the promotional term ends and the standard rate begins.
  3. Optional extras: Remove add-ons you do not need and check which included services later become paid.
  4. Refund rules: Read exclusions for domains, setup fees, monthly plans, and upgrades.
BOTTOM LINE

Is Bluehost good value?

The entry rate can be attractive, but value depends on the required commitment, the renewal step-up, and whether you will actually use the included features. Compare the full-term cost with the alternatives before deciding.
