Bluehost Alternatives 2026: Compare Cost & Fit

Hosting Review Lab comparison cover for Bluehost alternatives

Bluehost alternatives make sense for different reasons: you may want month-to-month billing, a clearer renewal comparison, more included websites, or a different level of WordPress management. Pick the reason first. A low advertised rate can require a long prepayment, while a monthly option may cost more per month but reduce the amount due upfront.

Bluehost alternatives at a glance

AlternativeWhat to compareBest fit to investigate
HostingerPromotional term, total charged today, renewal rate, backup cadence and site allowanceBudget-focused buyers comfortable with a longer prepayment
DreamHostMonthly versus annual term, included sites, storage and email costBuyers who want the choice to pay monthly

Which alternative matches what you want to change?

For a low first bill: compare Hostinger’s term carefully

Hostinger currently advertises Premium at $2.99 per month for a 48-month term, with $143.52 due for that term and renewal listed at $10.99 per month. That means the advertised monthly rate assumes four years paid in advance. Compare the full initial charge and renewal rate with the Bluehost plan and term you are considering. Also check whether the site allowance, storage, backups and email fit your needs. See our Hostinger pricing breakdown and Hostinger vs. Bluehost comparison.

For monthly billing: look at DreamHost

DreamHost says its Web Hosting plans offer a monthly billing option; longer commitments receive larger discounts. This can reduce the initial commitment compared with a multi-year prepayment, though monthly billing may have a higher rate. Check the current plan selector for your country, the renewal amount, included websites, email, and storage before ordering. Our DreamHost pricing guide explains the term and email costs, and Bluehost vs. DreamHost compares the two providers.

For a short initial term: compare SiteGround’s standard rates

SiteGround publishes both introductory offers and standard rates by subscription length. Its current standard-rate table lists StartUp at $17.99 per month for a 12-month term, with a one-month option also shown at a higher standard rate. That table helps frame the ongoing price; it is separate from the discounted signup offer. Compare your checkout total, regular rate, and plan limits. See the SiteGround pricing guide and SiteGround vs. Bluehost.

For managed WordPress features: compare Pressable

Pressable Signature 1 is listed at $250 per year, with one WordPress install, up to 30,000 visits per month and 20GB storage. This is a managed WordPress option, so compare the included workflow and support with your Bluehost plan as well as the dollar amount. It is not a direct substitute if you need general-purpose hosting for several different applications or have a much lower budget. Check the current overage policy and the amount charged annually. Our Pressable pricing page covers the plan structure.

Make an apples-to-apples cost comparison

Before switching, write down the exact Bluehost plan, renewal date, billing term, next invoice, included sites and storage, backup schedule, email, domain renewal, and any paid add-ons. Then compare the alternative for the same 12-month period. Include:

  • the amount billed today and the duration it covers;
  • the regular renewal rate and whether it changes with term length;
  • domain, privacy, mailbox, backup and migration charges;
  • limits for sites, storage, databases, visits or bandwidth; and
  • the work you will take on if the new plan offers less WordPress management.

Bluehost publishes separate renewal tables for shared and managed WordPress hosting. Use the correct product type when estimating your renewal; similar plan names do not always mean the same features or price. Our Bluehost pricing guide walks through hosting and domain renewals.

Before moving a live site

  1. Make an off-site backup and record DNS, email, redirects, scheduled tasks and third-party integrations.
  2. Check the destination’s PHP and database requirements, storage use, email setup and backup retention.
  3. Copy the site to a staging or temporary environment and test logins, forms, checkout, email and key pages.
  4. Change DNS only after testing, keep the old account active through verification, and retain a rollback copy.
  5. Cancel Bluehost after confirming the live domain, SSL certificate, email delivery and analytics all work.

A host change does not require changing your domain or page URLs. Keeping URLs stable reduces avoidable migration and search-indexing risk. Use our hosting migration SEO checklist during the move.
