Essential, Plus, and WordPress are different offers
IONOS’s regular Web Hosting Essential card currently displays $4 per month for a one-year term and $8 per month after that term. The first twelve months of base hosting therefore total $48 across monthly charges, followed by an indicative $96 for another twelve months at the posted rate, before tax and add-ons. In a U.S. order selector checked September 25, 2026, the 12-month offer showed $4 due today and $8 monthly after the introductory period; confirm the schedule and tax in the final order. Essential lists 100 GB NVMe SSD storage and one email address. IONOS’s current comparison grid lists unlimited websites across its web-hosting tiers; shared server resources still govern what the plan can handle. That 100 GB allowance does not mean a resource-heavy site will run as well as a dedicated server.
Do not use the $1 headline for Essential
IONOS also promotes a $1 per month first-year offer on another tier on its hosting page. The cheapest first-year plan and the lowest renewal are not necessarily the same product. Its Plus tier and the separate Hosting for WordPress product have different included storage, email, features and renewal charges. Compare the product name, first-year total, amount due today and post-promotion rate side by side; do not mix an Essential renewal with the Plus introductory rate.
What is included, and what needs checking?
IONOS lists a domain offer, a wildcard SSL certificate and support in the web-hosting plan grid. Confirm the first-year registration eligibility and the domain renewal quote independently of the hosting price. Its feature table lists SSH, SFTP and WP-CLI access for relevant plans, but do not assume a specific tool is on the entry plan without checking the current chart. WordPress-specific hosting can have a different storage and backup arrangement from standard web hosting.
Decision
Essential fits a buyer who values substantial listed storage and can budget $8 per month after the first year. If you plan to host several busy sites, compare the higher tiers’ server resources and limits on their own terms.
