WP Engine’s entry price is not the whole invoice
In the WP Engine Essential configurator checked September 25, 2026, the one-site annual selection showed $28 per month equivalent and $336 billed annually. The $28 figure is a monthly comparison; the amount charged today depends on the selected billing cycle, capacity, coupon, add-ons, and tax. Check the actual cart before treating either number as your offer.

The current pricing page shows one site, 25,000 visits per month, 10 GB storage, and 75 GB monthly bandwidth for the entry configuration. WP Engine includes managed updates, backups, staging, SSL, and CDN in its platform. It also lists optional paid services, such as AI-assisted plugin updates and site monitoring on Essential. Read the exact plan comparison, because “managed” does not mean every advanced feature is included.
What does WP Engine charge when the promotion ends?
The current introductory monthly equivalent is not a universal renewal price. WP Engine’s pricing page explicitly excludes first-year coupons from renewals and says renewal pricing can change. Its separate 2026 subscription update lists $35 per month for an existing Startup subscription at a qualifying renewal on or after March 11, 2026. That existing-customer notice is evidence that renewal can differ; it is not a guaranteed renewal quote for a new Essential purchase. Record the plan name and renewal amount shown in your own portal or order terms.
Traffic example: WP Engine says a Startup plan 10,000 billable visits above its monthly limit would incur a $20 visitor overage (10 × $2). Those charges are assessed monthly even when the plan itself is paid annually. WP Engine’s definition of a billable visit can differ from Google Analytics, so monitor its own Usage page.
Annual billing, cancellation, and fit
Annual billing can lower a monthly equivalent while increasing today’s payment. WP Engine says switching from annual to monthly billing may require its billing team. Its support guide also describes a cancellation notice process; review the current agreement, refund eligibility, and cutoff date before committing. WP Engine is a stronger fit for a site that will use its staging, backups, specialist support, and predictable WordPress workflows.
