QUICK VERDICT

What Namecheap really costs

The recorded Namecheap offer lists an entry price of $1.83/mo (recorded offer: 12 months prepaid; $21.96 today, then $55.88/year). The recorded renewal rate is $4.66/mo, so the post-promotion budget matters as much as the launch price.

Our best-fit view: Budget-conscious owners managing a few modest websites.

PLAN-SPECIFIC ANALYSIS

Compare the yearly Stellar offer with the yearly renewal

On Namecheap’s US shared-hosting page checked September 25, 2026, Stellar is listed at $21.96 for the first year ($1.83 monthly equivalent), with a posted $55.88 per year renewal. That is approximately $4.66 per month when averaged across a 12-month renewal term. The first two years would be $77.84 in base hosting at those posted figures, before any taxes, domain renewal, add-ons or later price changes. The provider’s separate $5.88 one-month renewal option is a different billing cycle; it should not be used as the yearly renewal equivalent.

Namecheap’s yearly Stellar offer currently lists three websites, 20 GB SSD storage and 30 mailboxes. A first-year free or discounted domain may depend on the selected extension; it does not make the registration free in year two. A buyer moving a website should also check what is included in a free migration and whether mailboxes and messages are part of that work.

What to verify in your checkout

  • Set the billing selector to Yearly and record the amount due today and the exact renewal total shown in your own currency.
  • Check the price of the domain in year two and whether privacy, SSL, email, backups and restoration fit the selected plan.
  • If you need month-to-month flexibility, compare the actual one-month rate and renewal rather than multiplying a yearly promotion.
  • Confirm file-count, storage and CPU limits for the number of sites you intend to host. The three-site allowance alone does not describe how much traffic those sites can support.

Our Namecheap versus Hostinger comparison weighs the different control panels and commitments. Use the hosting cost calculator with the figures from your own checkout, including domain and email costs.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Four details to verify at checkout

Before canceling, read our refund and cancellation checklist.

  1. Billing period: Confirm how much is charged today, not only the monthly equivalent.
  2. Renewal date: Note when the promotional term ends and the standard rate begins.
  3. Optional extras: Remove add-ons you do not need and check which included services later become paid.
  4. Refund rules: Read exclusions for domains, setup fees, monthly plans, and upgrades.
BOTTOM LINE

Is Namecheap good value?

The entry rate can be attractive, but value depends on the required commitment, the renewal step-up, and whether you will actually use the included features. Compare the full-term cost with the alternatives before deciding.
